Shadow Creek

Shadow Creek Drive
North Las Vegas, NV 89031
(702) 791-7161

Perhaps you’ve never heard tales of this legendary place sculpted from the Nevada desert by renowned architect Tom Fazio. May we assure you, descriptions, however grand, do not begin to do this masterpiece justice. Shadow Creek must be played. Shadow Creek must be experienced. Only then can true lovers of the game begin to appreciate its breathtaking beauty.

Once the domain of only a privileged few, the natural splendor of this monument to the imagination and classic golf course design stands today ready to be shared. Ready to be enjoyed by all who honor and respect the game, and seek its challenges at the highest level.

Your entree to Shadow Creek begins when you register as a guest at one of the MGM MIRAGE™ properties - the finest resorts Las Vegas has to offer. A private limousine will transport you to and from your appointment and upon arrival, your personal caddie will greet and guide you through a golfing experience you will never forget.

If you have but one round left in your bag, make it happen here. Shadow Creek may be the most spectacular golf course this side of heaven. Every hole at Shadow Creek could make a signature statement at most golf courses throughout the world. Sparkling creeks, towering waterfalls and lush gardens are framed by commanding mountains. Shadows slide across dramatic landscapes, changing shape and contour from dawn to dusk.

Walk with us now along those manicured fairways. Catch a glimpse of perfect greens, guarded by crystal blue water. Imagine how it must feel to be there. Then, when you’re ready, play Shadow Creek. There is nothing quite like it on earth.

shadow4The fourth hole is a par five that bends to the left around a wide lake. After the tee shot, golfers reach the landing area where the lake and the green are fully exposed to view.

The steep hill and tall trees on the right are accents for the left side of the hole near the green, which is framed by the lake and a steep, tree-covered hillside on the left. From a wide landing area, this hole narrows to the green, lending a closer feeling between golfing companions and between man and nature.

shadow 9At the ninth hole, the course runs parallel to Shadow Creek and plays from south to north with an orientation of the fairway to the mountains. Alternate tees on the left and right provide variety, and from the tee, the fairway appears to be rather tight, but there is plenty of room to play.

shadow9

The approach is a bit more difficult. Here, the green angles back from right to left, creating a difficult pin position at the left rear, while a roll-off and contours at the front of the green require a carry-up onto the green for the front pin placement.

shadow15The 15th plays back to the north alongside Shadow Creek. It meanders down the left side of the hole, then cuts diagonally across the fairway past the landing area and separates the fairway from the green, forcing golfers to carry the water on the approach.

shadow15

A long second shot is played over the creek to a green that is divided into four distinct putting areas, each set at a different elevation. The hole plays toughest during the prime winter season when prevailing breezes come from the northwest.

shadow17The 17th hole may be the most dramatic because of its setting. Here, golfers play down from one of several tees perched on top of a ridge to a green surrounded by rocks and water. Behind the green, a massive waterfall drops into a pool that cascades into a creek which then falls into the lake that fronts the green.

shadow17

It’s the kind of hole where, even after hitting the green with your first shot, you’ll want to hit another.

In a way, the 18th hole is a combination of every golf shot, every design treatment and every setting created on the rest of the holes at Shadow Creek. Alternate tee positions are set into a high ridge to offer various angles on the tee shot. Water on the right flows from the green toward the tee into three lakes which are broken by three waterfalls.

A long, high-ridge line travels from the tee up the left side and then the hole doglegs at the landing area, which is about 25 feet above the water. Playing safely to the left will bring golfers to a second dogleg, just short of a bend in the lake. Then it’s an approach across water and bunkers to the long narrow green that’s framed by steep hills, dense trees and flowers.

shadow18The finishing hole was purposely planned as a par five so that we would have room to reprise as many design elements as possible. This hole calls to mind the environment surrounding the entire property and, we hope, the exhilaration of playing golf at a place as special as Shadow Creek.
